Hackney Empirelast night was buzzing with activity not just because I'd won a ticket on StationFM last night 12.30am or that there was almost 20 of us who all met up in the bar around the corner of Hackney Central or the even the good omen of a fellow buddy of Nii Parkes on X-bout.com Phenzwaanadvertising his Phenzology outside or even that I'd made a big effort to polish my new shoes for the event, no these guys were the Bomb.
The Night was called Hollywood Swinging ! A comedy show based on the seventies struggles and humour with gags about grilled toast always scraped and never wasted or learning to speak street jive by the white man, action of Shaft shown above on the big screen and prizes; lots of prizes, dvd's he says in the fast manderine accent along with hair gel for yo mother, cuertosy of Western Union who sponsored the event.
Me being the first to be singled out and pulled on stage and no it was not a swinging party, not quite anyway, it was better this theatrical show was a landmark for the two stars who live in Clapton there take on films that pack a punch or films derogatry of the stereotypical black man made an impact that raised the humour enough to smile constantly. Anyway I was picked to be John Travolta from Grease singing those Summer nights with a girl called Jackie who played the Olivia-Newton-John character, having gave her a smochy wet kiss on the cheek before hand she ended up gyrating to the sound of our singing and the crowd roaring in-order to win the prizes.
The friend the other free ticket recieved ended up dancing to the Kripton Factor of five, on the chequered ropes of invisibilty and for that he recieved 50 dvds and a dvd player, cool, then to top it of Mark my buddy from Islington who's birthday it was also ended up on stage doing the Noel Edmunds show open the box , now the other girl who also was in our crew, Marks crew that is the Twenty of us (remember now) who is half pregnant ended up winning £200 Western Union voucher.
During the show the Hackney Empire was a privilege to be inside, the show was great and I felt like a King, shout goes out to Master J from the radio, Mark for the well prepared birthday, all the ladies in the joint who later gave some good advise around this new book I have coming out soon WINDOW and of course Hackney as always, oh and you for reading.
Bless.
